In a passionate appeal marking International Youth Day, ECOWAS Youth Council Ambassador Dr. Solomon Anyegwu urged governments to harness the energy and creativity of youths by involving them in governance.
“Youths are the game-changers, the trailblazers, and the future leaders!”
Dr. Anyegwu declared. “It’s time for governments to tap into their potential, provide them with the tools they need to succeed, and give them a seat at the decision-making table.”
Dr. Anyegwu emphasized that youth inclusiveness is key to unlocking a peaceful, progressive, and prosperous society. “Neglect your youths at your own peril!” he warned.
“When youths are empowered, society benefits. When they’re neglected, social vices take root.”
The renowned ambassador and peace advocate outlined a roadmap for governments to follow:
Provide moral education, skills acquisition, and quality education, Offer employment opportunities, leadership roles, and remuneration to the youths.
He further said government should ensure access to basic social amenities like electricity, water, housing,Support scholarships and quality training institutions.
Dr. Anyegwu’s call to action resonates with the global themes of International Youth Day. Will governments heed the call and unlock the power of youth?
