The permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affair, Habibat Onumoko, has stressed the need for the state to continue on the path of progress and development, saying the state needs an experienced leader with vision and pragmatic approaches to issues of governance.

Habibat made this known in a statement at the weekend, while speaking at an interactive session with a cross-section of media men in Lokoja, declaring that the governorship seat in the state is not for political jokers who want to use the seat for the experiment.

She said leaders should only be elected based on the values they possessed, citing character, integrity, and empathy as major criteria.

Habibat noted that the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ahmed Usman Ododo possesses all the qualities mentioned above and has the requisite knowledge for a successful government.

Onumoko commended Governor Yahaya Bello for his exceptional leadership and service to the good people of Kogi State, saying Ahmed Usman Ododo is privileged to be under the tutelage of a dynamic governor, Yahaya Bello.

She said Governor Yahaya Bello’s developmental strides across all sectors of the state and his administration’s transformative reforms and programs have set Kogi State on the path of sustainable growth and development.

Reacting to Kogi ministerial slot, Habibat hailed the courage and wisdom of Yahaya Bello for pushing for Prince Shuaibu Audu, son of the former Governor of Kogi State. She said this has further proven that Governor Yahaya Bello is a detribalized politician who will always choose competence and capacity over ethnic solidarity.

She charged the people in the state to continue to respect constituted authority and contribute their quota to the development of Kogi State. She stressed
